2003 saw the 25th anniversary of the Valencia Region Band Competition, with the best bands from each of the region?s three provinces pitted in heated competition for victory in their respective categories. The festival also featured special guest performances by La Lira de Cheste in its role as host band. Although the competition?s prizes have traditionally been honorary, as of 2001 the three winners from the previous year have participated in a concert held in Valencia on April 29th, the Day of Valencian Music.
