Among the Instituto Valenciano de la Música's principal objectives in relation to the promotion of music within the Valencia Region is the promotion of opera and lyric genre in general among a wider public. In order to achieve this goal, IVM is developing a program to create new audiences, either through the co-production of works such as chamber versions of Mozart's opera Così fan tutte, Tom Johnson's Four Notes Opera, Igor Stravinsky's Oedipus Rex and Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia - which can be staged in auditoriums that lack the facilities for full-scale productions- or collaborations on new works, such as that carried out with Carlos Santos on his own Ricardo y Elena. Additional activities include the mounting of productions designed for children, such as La pequeña flauta mágica (The Little Magic Flute) by Els Comediants based on Mozart's work, and El superbarbero de Sevilla (The Superbarber of Seville) by El Tricicle, which was inspired by Rossini. Both works were produced by the Gran Teatre del Liceu of Barcelona.
