Francesc Perales was born in Xàtiva (Valencia) in 1959. He completed his musical studies in the music school of the Sociedad Musical La Primitiva, Xàtiva, and the Conservatorio Superior de Música, Valencia, where he earned the title Professor Superior of Clarinet. He studied Choral Conducting and Orchestra Conducting with Eduardo Cifre, José Ferriz y Manuel Galduf, winning the Prize of Honor in both specialties. He also attended a course in conducting with Helmut Rilling. He earned second prize in the Manuel Palau National Orchestra Conducting Competition in 1983 and, since 1988, has been director of Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana.
He has collaborated with many choral and instrumental ensembles (Orquesta de Valencia, Collegium Instrumentale, Coro Nacional de España), and Grup Instrumental de València, among others, performing at festivals such as Sagunt a Escena, Festival de Música de Granada, Taller de Opera del Palau, Festival de Música Contemporánea de Alicante, Festival Ensems, etc. He has worked as an assistant to the maestros Rilling and Prêtre and has held the post of Professor of Chorus and Orchestra at the Valencia Conservatorio Profesional since 1980. With the Cor de la Generalitat, he has recorded pieces by contemporary Valencian composers and music from the archives of the Orihuela and Segorbe cathedrals for the exhibition La Luz de las Imágenes.
