Jordi Blanch Tordera holds degrees in Choir Direction, Piano, Music Theory, and Composition from the José Iturbi and Joaquín Rodrigo conservatories of Valencia.
He obtained the highest academic honours in the subjects of Solfège (elementary level), Piano (professional level) and Harmony (professional degree). He was also the recipient of the José Iturbi Award as the top graduating student of his class at the professional level, and of the Special Graduation Award in Choir Direction. He also won First Prize at the 1st Maestro Serrano piano competition held in Valencia.
He studied choir direction with Eduardo Cifre, Adrián Cobo, María Carmen Cruz, Juan Luís Martínez and José Ramón Gil-Tárrega. He also worked on children's choir direction with José Vicente de Sousa, Erkki Pohjola and Kari Ala-Pöllänen, and he studied orchestra conducting under Jordi Mora, Manuel Galduf, Enrique García Asensio and Antoni Ros-Marbà.
From 2000 to 2005 he was the dean of the Joaquín Rodrigo Conservatory in Sagunt, where he also taught piano and was the conductor of the conservatory orchestra.
His work as choir director has focused on the groups Xiquets cantors Divisi (Valencia), Orfeó Veus Juntes (Quart de Poblet), Cor de la Unió (Torrent) and the Virelai choir of the Escola Coral de Quart de Poblet. He has combined this work with teaching choir and chamber music in the conservatories of Valencia and Torrent.
He has also worked on the choral preparation of different operas and symphonic choral compositions with conductors Cristóbal Soler, Juan Luís Martínez, Lorin Maazel and Riccardo Chailly.
2016 he became assistant director of the Cor de la Generalitat Valenciana.
